The Summer Social Justice Internship is a program that offers students a $4,000. stipend to practice turning passion into action by serving. You can apply practical work skills and gain leadership experience in a nonprofit setting, while contributing to real-world solutions, led by the community, for a more just future.
- All UW Tacoma students are encouraged to apply. The application process includes an interview with the program coordinators and potential community partners for matching.
- Space is limited. Students will be selected by the Office of Equity Inclusion staff and each nonprofit representative based on merit and career alignment with the mission and goals of our community partners.
- Participation includes an orientation and 210 hours of service over 6 weeks. The internship commitment includes working at the site location and attending UW Tacoma workshops about community engagement based on cultural humility and an equity lens.
- OEI staff share on-boarding and supervisory responsibilities with participating nonprofits over the summer.
- Our successful collaborations will culminate in a showcase at UW Tacoma to highlight community impact and student learning outcomes.
